Enjoy, experience and meet in a unique atmosphere are the focus of the "new old market hall" in Herford. There have been regular weekly markets in Herford since July 9, 1883. They have been taking place under one roof for over 100 years: the Herford market hall. As part of an extensive renovation by the architects Böll in 2019, the market hall was restructured with permanently installed market stalls and adapted to today's architectural and urban planning requirements. Newly added glass partitions structure the hall and expand the range of uses to include additional evening event formats after the end of market operations in the three sub-areas of the hall. Due to the new roof openings that did not originally exist, the daylighting in the hall is completely re-staged.
The lighting concept should take up the traditional appearance of classic market hall lighting of the 20th century with pendant lamps, but at the same time be less present and enable more differentiated and brilliant lighting. Archetypal compact pendant lights with the latest LED technology form the general lighting layer, which is supplemented by spotlights and recessed spotlights to accentuate the individual market stalls. The respective products are individually emphasized in their type and color by special light colors and LED spectra. At the same time, they can be flexibly adapted to changing market stalls or events.
